Choosing an industry and domain name
For a couple of days, I have been thinking of an industry to develop and design two websites for my major research paper. (COMPARING HOW EFFECTIVE GENERATIVE AI CAN HELP WITH ON-PAGE SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION AS COMPARED TO HUMAN CONTENT WRITERS.)
After careful consideration, I decided to go with the digital marketing industry. And why not? I’m an Entrepreneur and a Digital marketer ( Website Designer, UI/UX Designer, and Search Engine Optimization Specialist.) It’s about time I started thinking of having my own digital marketing agency. And this feels like the right time to do so. The digital marketing agency website that performs better in the Google rankings, will be my new digital marketing agency business. (All who comment on this blog, will get a 25% discount on all services when I launch this business 😄)
My digital marketing agency will provide four main services for now. (Website Design, UI/UX Design, Copywriting, and Search Engine Optimization).
Now that I have decided on the industry to use for my major research paper, it is time to choose and select two domain names to use for the websites. For those wondering what a domain name is, let me give you a brief overview of what is needed to have a website without sounding too techy. To have a live website you need a domain name and a hosting server. like the address of a website on the internet. Just as your home has a street address to help people find it, a domain name is a unique and easy-to-remember name that helps you access websites. When you type a domain name into your web browser (like “www.example.com”), it takes you to that website’s location on the internet. It’s like the internet’s way of making sure you can find and visit your favorite websites without needing to remember long strings of numbers. A hosting server is like a virtual home for websites and web applications on the internet. Just as you need a physical place to store your belongings, websites and apps need a digital space to exist. This server is a powerful computer that stores all the files, images, and data that make up a website or app, and it’s always connected to the internet so people can access those websites and apps from anywhere in the world. It’s like a friendly host that serves up the web content whenever you visit a website, making sure everything runs smoothly and is available for everyone to see and use.
For this major research paper, I have purchased two domain names I will use for the websites. “Digiby.site” and “Digibar.site“.(Hello World!, are you ready for one of the best digital marketing agencies?😉) I was wondering which domain name I should use for the content provided by Generative AI and which domain to use for content generated by Human writers. Returning from the grocery store with my friend-turned-brother, Samuel Seffah Nyame, an Information Designer, ( Senior Associate, Data and Analytics Hub) at PwC Canada, I asked for his thoughts and he advised I use “Digiby” domain for the website with content provided by AI because “Digiby” rhymes with “AI” 😅. I’m still contemplating which domain name to use for which kind of content type. Kindly, let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
I also just created two Google emails (digibar.site@gmail.com) and (digiby.site@gmail.com). I will use these Google emails to set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
Google Analytics is like a digital detective for websites. Imagine you have a store, but it’s on the Internet instead of a physical place. You want to know how many people visit your store, where they come from, what they look at, and whether they buy anything. Google Analytics helps you with all of that. It’s a tool that watches over your website and gathers information about your visitors. It tells you things like how many people visited your site, which pages they visited, how long they stayed, and even where they’re located. It’s a bit like having a secret camera in your store, but instead of identifying individual people, it gives you overall trends and numbers. This information is incredibly useful for businesses and website owners because it helps them understand what’s working on their website and what needs improvement. It’s like having a map to guide you in making your online store better and more appealing to your customers. I will use Google Analytics to help me determine which website performed better.
Google Search Console is like a backstage pass to the internet for website owners. Imagine you have a website, and you want to know how well it’s doing on Google. Search Console is your tool for that. It shows you how often your website shows up in Google search results, what keywords people use to find it, and if there are any problems that might be preventing your site from performing its best. Think of it as a dashboard that helps you understand how your website appears on Google’s search engine. It’s like having a window into how your site is seen by the world’s biggest search engine, and it gives you valuable insights to make your website even better. It’s a tool to help you fine-tune your website’s performance and visibility in Google’s search results.
Unfortunately, although not surprising, just “digibar@gmail.com and “digiby@gmail.com” usernames in Google had already been taken. And I am not a fan of Google username suggestions that come with numbers. So I decided to go with the whole domain name as a username for the Google mails, i.e (digibar.site@gmail.com) and (digiby.site@gmail.com). I believe these are better than digibar104@gmail.com and digiby96@gmail.com as Google suggested. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
In my next blog, titled “Finding and Selecting a Domain Name” I will delve deeper and show the process of how I came about the two domain names i.e Digibar.site and Digiby.site
